When we were thinking about building this salon, we wanted it to be more than the run-of-the-mill type salon. We wanted a salon that would appear timeless over the years and present itself as eloquent. The furniture had to stand out and we didn’t want the classic off-the-shelf salon stations and cabinets. The layout had to catch the eye and also be functional at the same time.
Working in the movies inspired us to create a theme in which we would build this salon around. One of our favorite movies is Casablanca starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Today it is rated #3 in AMC Greatest 100 Movies of All Time.
The movie takes place in the city of Casablanca in country called Morocco during WWII. Rick, played by Humphrey Bogart, owned a classy upscale Saloon known to the locals as Rick’s. Rick’s has a timeless look to it and a style all to its own. It was the look and style that we wanted to capture in our Salon.
So the theme was to build our salon to have that timeless look like Rick’s. To keep the theme in front of us, we named the salon ‘Salon de Casablanca’. All the stations were custom designed and hand crafted out of Cherry wood and dark Walnut wood. The salon has a custom layout that is very unique and very functional.
A little bit of history, Casablanca was an important strategic port during World War II and hosted the Casablanca Conference in 1943, in which Churchill and Roosevelt discussed the progress of the war. Casablanca was the site of a large American air base, which was the staging area for all American aircraft for the European Theater of Operations during World War II.
